300 Underprivileged Tertiary Students in Kwara Awarded Scholarship Grants

Three hundred indigent students in tertiary institutions from selected communities in Edu/Patigi/Moro local government areas of Kwara state have received a scholarship grant to support their education.

Speaking at the Flagg off of the distribution of the scholarship grant held in Ilorin, with the “themed Dangers of Drug Abuse Among Students In Tertiary institutions” organised by Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies in collaboration with member representing, Edu/Moro/Patigi federal constituency of Kwara state, Ahmed Adamu -Saba said the distribution would be done in two phases.

Represented by his aide, Muhammed Salihu, the lawmaker said the Idea of the scholarship initiative is to support students whose parents cannot afford to pay some of their bills.

Saba explained that some privileged students in school can also use the money to buy their books or pay their house rent.

In his address, the Acting Director-General of the General Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS), Pastor Ezekiel Ayorinde, represented by the Chief Procurement Officer of the Institute, Hassan Surajudeen, said that the grant is to improve the educational standard of the students.

In his lecture “Themed Dangers of Drug Abuse among Students in Tertiary Institutions,” the guest lecturer, Abdullahi Galadima, said that from the available records, youths tend to indulge in drug abuse due to peer pressure, among other reasons.
