Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has revealed that no fewer than 20 individuals have already declared their intention to contest for the governorship seat when his tenure ends in 2027.
The governor made the disclosure in Lafia, the state capital, during a grand reception organized in honour of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Labaran Magaji.
According to Governor Sule, the growing number of aspirants signals an intense political contest ahead, likely to be characterized by alliances, reconciliation, and teamwork among contenders.
“I want to use this opportunity to inform you that so far, about 20 people are already in the race for the governorship of Nasarawa State,” he said. “So there is going to be a lot of alliances, a lot of forgiveness, and a lot of teamwork if we really want to move forward, because at the end of the day, only one person will get it.”
He emphasized that the choice of who leads Nasarawa after him is ultimately in the hands of God.
“It is God Almighty who will select our next governor, not A.A. Sule,” he stated, urging all stakeholders to support and respect whoever emerges as the next leader.
Governor Sule also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support for the state.
