Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has flagged off the distribution of 100,000 bags of 10kg rice donated by the Aliko Dangote Foundation to support vulnerable and underprivileged residents across the state.
The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, disclosed in a statement on Saturday.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Governor Yusuf, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Faruk Ibrahim, expressed profound appreciation to the Foundation for the generous donation, describing it as timely and impactful in supporting the underprivileged during this period of time.
He noted that the gesture would significantly complement the state government’s humanitarian efforts aimed at improving the living conditions of the less privileged and ensuring that many people benefitted from the gesture especially at this sacred month of Ramadan.
Governor Yusuf also assured that the distribution process would be conducted in a transparent and accountable manner through relevant community structures and stakeholders to ensure that the rice reaches the intended beneficiaries.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Danjuma Mahmud, commended the Dangote Foundation for the confidence it reposed in Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, which led to granting the state government the opportunity to directly oversee the distribution of the relief assistance to the beneficiaries.
