Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has pledged unwavering support to the victims of the recent fire outbreak at Dakata Small Scale Industrial Area in Nassarawa Local Government Area, which resulted in losses exceeding ₦8 billion.
The Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa in a statement said his principal expressed deep concern over the tragic incident and sympathized with the affected business owners and their families during a visit to the site on Saturday.
In a gesture of solidarity, according to the statement, Governor Yusuf announced a donation of ₦100 million to assist the victims in recovering from their losses.
He emphasized his administration’s commitment to rebuilding the area and directed immediate action to begin recovery efforts.
Governor Yusuf instructed the Ministry of Commerce, the Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), and the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB) to collaborate on clearing the debris and redesigning the site to prevent future occurrences.
He also announced plans to connect the industrial area with Tiga Independent Power to enhance operational stability and install solar-powered streetlights for improved security and functionality.
Additionally, the Governor directed the Commissioner of Investment, Commerce, and Industries, Shehu Wada Sagagi, to open a special account for donations to support the victims.
He called on the Federal Government, politicians, business moguls, and other stakeholders to contribute generously towards rehabilitating the affected businesses and ensuring a swift recovery.
“This is a time for unity and collective action,” the Governor remarked during his visit.
“Together, we can rebuild Dakata Small Scale Industry and restore it to its former glory.
“My administration remains committed to empowering our youth and creating opportunities within the recovering industry.”
