Yahaya, Oyetunde Emerge NUJ President, Vice President

Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, former National Deputy President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has emerged as the elected new president of the union.

Alhassan, one-time NUJ Chairman of Gombe State Council, defeated his closest contender, the current Treasurer of the Union, Dele Atunbi, after winning 436 votes.

The runner-up Atunbi got 97 votes while Mohammed Garba came a distant third with 39 votes.

Also, a Deputy Director with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, Mrs. Abimbola Oyetunde, emerged as the Deputy National President of the union unopposed at the 8th Triennial Delegate Conference of NUJ, held in Owerri, the Imo State.

Other executive members of the Union emerged unopposed.
