The Waziri of Rano Emirate Council in Kano, Alaramma Kabir Sani, has expressed deep concern over the declining moral standards among youths, urging parents, community leaders, and authorities to recommit to proper Islamic upbringing as prescribed in the Qur’an and Hadith.

He made the call on Friday at an Islamic lecture on proper upbringing among youths, organized by the Rano Local Government Islamic Shari’a Council and held at the Rano Emir’s Palace.

Speaking extensively, the Waziri lamented that Islamic teachings on moral conduct and responsible upbringing are increasingly being neglected in contemporary society, particularly among male and female youths.

He stressed that proper upbringing begins from the family unit, noting that the choice of a righteous spouse is fundamental, as the mother plays a critical role in shaping the character of children.

According to Rano Zonal Information Officer, Abdullahi Musa Gyadi Gyadi, the Waziri also addressed the growing influence of DJ performances at social gatherings and weddings, describing them as harmful to societal values.

He disclosed that the local government and Emirate councils, in collaboration with security agencies, have imposed a ban on DJ performances across the Rano area due to their negative impact on morality.

Also speaking at the event, Ustaz Aminu Abdulkadir identified the misuse of mobile phones by youths as one of the major threats to proper upbringing, warning that unchecked exposure to harmful content continues to erode moral values.

The District Head of Rano, Adda’u Isah, represented by Balarabe Adda’u Isah Rano, commended the Islamic Shari’a Council for the initiative and pledged the Emirate Council’s full support for programs aimed at promoting Islamic teachings and moral reorientation.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Rano Local Government Islamic Shari’a Council, Malam Idris Garba Rano, announced that the lecture series would be extended to all 13 districts of the local government area.

He said 15 selected Islamic scholars, led by the Waziri of Rano, would spearhead the outreach.

The Chairman concluded by urging parents to take full responsibility for the moral and religious upbringing of their children, describing it as a collective duty essential to the well-being of society.
