Waiya Urges Kano Information Officers to Intensify Publicity of Developmental Projects

The Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has called on Information Officers across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Kano State to intensify the publicity of developmental and people-oriented projects being executed in their respective offices.

The Commissioner made the call on Friday while addressing Information Officers during a meeting held at the Ministry, explaining that the engagement was convened to map out strategies for improving their performance and strengthening effective information dissemination.

He urged the officers to remain professional, objective and committed to the dissemination of accurate and credible information, stressing that strict adherence to the ethics and regulations guiding information management is essential to safeguarding public interest and promoting informed public participation.

Comrade Waiya reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of Information Officers through the provision of working tools and continuous training to enhance their efficiency and output.

He also disclosed plans to organise a special engagement involving Commissioners, Heads of Agencies and Information Officers, aimed at jointly exploring ways to build a more cordial and productive working relationship among them.

The Commissioner further emphasized the need for closer collaboration between news editors and Information Officers to ensure the timely and effective dissemination of information on the policies, programmes and developmental projects of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

In their separate remarks, the Acting Permanent Secretary, Usman Bello, and the Director of Information, Aminu Kabir Yasser, stressed the importance of discipline among officers to guarantee efficient and effective service delivery.

They also urged Information Officers to consistently seek feedback from beneficiaries of government projects and programmes as part of impact assessment and performance evaluation.
