Musa Na Allah, Sokoto
The Sokoto State Zakat and Endowment (Waqf) Agency (SOZEA) on Monday received UNICEF’s Social Protection Policy Consultant, Mr. Lukas Sam, who paid a courtesy visit as part of his statewide assessment tour of key MDAs involved in social protection implementation.
Mr. Sam said his visit to SOZEA was aimed at conducting a comprehensive review and impact assessment of ongoing social protection programmes in Sokoto State, noting that the agency plays a pivotal role in the state’s poverty-reduction framework.
He expressed satisfaction with SOZEA’s “remarkable achievements” in poverty alleviation and environmental sustainability, particularly its expanded cultivation of cash and ornamental trees including date palms across 87 districts in the state.
During the engagement, Chairman of the Agency, Muhammad Lawal Maidoki (Sadaukin Sakkwato), delivered a brief presentation on SOZEA’s activities, interventions, and strategic direction.
The visiting team was later taken on a field tour of the agency’s date and moringa farms located within its premises, followed by a group photograph.
Mr. Sam was accompanied by senior and principal planning officers from the Sokoto State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
The visit also had in attendance directors and principal officers of SOZEA.
