The Governing Council of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) in its regular meeting held on Wednesday, approved the appointment of Professor Tukur Adamu as the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation, and Development) for an initial term of two (2) years, in accordance with the university ( Miscellaneous) Provisions Act 1993 as amended.
This was contained in a statement signed on Friday by UDUS public relations office, Ismail Mohammed Yauri.
Prof Adamu the new DVC joined the services of the Usumanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto as a graduate Assistant in 1989 rose through the ranks, and became a professor in 2005.
Prof, Adamu has held various Academic and Administrative roles, including head of Biological sciences, Deputy Dean, and Director of School of Matriculation studies.
Until his appointment, Prof Adamu was the Chairman of the Management Board of UDUS’s Center for Open and Distance Education.
In another development, the university also dismissed 3 staff for sexual harassment, result alteration, and absconding from duty.
The dismissed three staff were found guilty of the alleged offenses by the Governing Council at its 171 regular meetings held on Wednesday.
The dismissal was handed to the former 3 employees in line with the instruction’s “zero tolerance ‘ policy towards acts of serious or gross misconduct.
