Professor Muhammad Sani Bello has stepped down from his position as Kaduna State Commissioner for Information and member of the State Executive Council.

In a resignation letter dated July 29, 2025, and addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Bello cited personal reasons for his immediate departure.

“With reference to letter number GH/KD/S/171 dated 27th July 2023, appointing me as Commissioner and Member of the Kaduna State Executive Council, I wish to notify you of my decision to voluntarily resign with immediate effect,” the letter read.

Professor Bello thanked Governor Uba Sani for the opportunity to serve the state, having previously held the position of Commissioner for Education before being appointed the pioneer Commissioner for Information.

Following his exit, Governor Uba Sani swiftly named Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki as the new Commissioner for Information. The appointment was confirmed in a statement released on Tuesday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa.

Maiyaki, who was until now the Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), is expected to bolster the government’s public communication strategy as part of ongoing efforts to enhance transparency and citizen engagement.
