The Federal Government’s ongoing drive to ease economic hardship has taken a significant step forward, with 244,000 vulnerable residents in Sokoto State poised to benefit from a fresh round of social intervention under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

The initiative will reach all 244 wards in the state, targeting 1,000 beneficiaries per ward, a scale Governor Ahmed Aliyu described as “one of the most impactful interventions Sokoto has ever witnessed.”

Speaking during a stakeholders’ meeting in Gawon Nama, the governor hailed the program as a crucial lifeline for households grappling with economic pressures.

He commended President Tinubu for placing vulnerable citizens at the center of national recovery efforts and reaffirmed that fairness would guide implementation.

“Our people deserve to feel the presence of government in their everyday struggles.

“This program is strictly for those who have never benefited before, and we are committed to transparency and inclusiveness at every stage,” Aliyu said.

He disclosed that a dedicated committee will supervise the beneficiary selection process to eliminate duplication, assuring residents that no recipient will be allowed to benefit twice. The intervention is scheduled to begin in January.

Governor Aliyu also acknowledged the guidance of APC leader Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, noting his role in shaping people-oriented governance in the state.

In his remarks, Senator Wamakko praised the governor’s approach to grassroots empowerment and called for unity and fairness in the distribution process.

“This is not our first impactful intervention.

“Let us ensure that competent and deserving citizens benefit from this opportunity,” he said.

The Sokoto State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Agenda, Hon. Haruna Sarkin Gobir Adiya, provided a comprehensive overview of the program, describing it as a fresh phase of social upliftment under President Tinubu’s leadership.

He announced the commencement of data form distribution to register prospective beneficiaries and encouraged broad community participation.

According to Adiya, the goal extends beyond financial relief. “This is about deepening the connection between citizens and the APC-led government.

It is a call to all genuine party members and residents who truly need support,” he said.

The meeting recorded a strong turnout, including Deputy Governor Idris Muhammad Gobir; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Tukur Bala Bodinga; Minister of State for Works, Barr. Bello Muhammad Goronyo; federal and state lawmakers; commissioners; advisers; and local government chairmen.
