President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reduction of dialysis fees in federal hospitals from ₦50,000 to ₦12,000 per session.

His Special Adviser on Policy and Information, Daniel Bwala, confirmed the directive on Monday via X, saying the subsidy is already in effect at major federal medical centres and teaching hospitals across the six geopolitical zones.

Facilities currently implementing the directive include FMC Ebute-Metta, FMC Jabi, UCH Ibadan, FMC Owerri, UMTH Maiduguri, FMC Abeokuta, LUTH Lagos, FMC Azare, UBTH Benin, and UCTH Calabar. More centres are expected to join before the year ends.

Bwala also noted that Tinubu had earlier approved free caesarean sections in federal hospitals, describing both moves as part of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda to make healthcare more affordable for Nigerians.
