Tarauni NUT Holds Qur’an Recitation Contest to Promote Islamic Learning Among Students

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Tarauni Local Government branch, has organized a Qur’an recitation competition for students from secondary schools, upper basic schools, Islamiyya schools, and conventional schools.

The initiative aims to inspire young people to deepen their knowledge of the Qur’an and strengthen Islamic values within the community.

According to the Local Government Information Officer, Adamu Iliyasu Hotoro, the event took place on Thursday at the Centre for Islamic Propagation in Tarauni.

Students competed in Qur’anic recitation, Tajweed (rules of pronunciation), and comprehension of the Qur’an’s meanings.

Chairman of the Parents and Teachers Association in Tarauni, Comrade Umar Rabiu, described the competition as a vital step in nurturing the youth, fostering a love for the Qur’an, and promoting good morals.

He noted that the NUT plans to make the competition an annual event to continuously encourage students in their Islamic and moral development.

The Education Secretary of Tarauni Local Government and NASU Chairman, Comrade Bashir Muhammad Karkasara, commended the NUT for organizing the competition and pledged continued support to ensure the success of similar programs in the future.

Chairman of the competition organizing committee, Mallam Bello Sani Ibrahim, and the Chief Judge, Gwani Aminu Usman, revealed that participating students received lessons on Qur’anic recitation and Tafsir (interpretation) in preparation for the contest.

They added that winners for the first, second, and third positions will be announced soon and awarded prizes.

The event drew notable attendees, including the Director of the Tarauni Education Zone, Alhaji Isah Ibrahim; representatives from the SUBEB under the leadership of Mallam Yusif Kabir; as well as parents and teachers from various schools in the area.
