Tarauni Local Government Area (LGA) in Kano has distributed financial empowerment support to 200 women under the Kano State Government’s 50/50 empowerment initiative, a program designed to strengthen women engaged in small and medium-scale businesses and promote economic self-reliance.
The initiative was officially launched at the Islamic Centre in Tarauni, where the Chairman of Tarauni Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad (Sekure), led the flag-off ceremony.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman described the empowerment scheme as a major policy of the Kano State Government aimed at supporting women and youth across all local government areas to stimulate economic growth.
He explained that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from various wards, representing women involved in different trades, and were provided funds to expand their businesses and improve their families’ livelihoods.
Ahmed Ibrahim Muhammad expressed appreciation for the continuous support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, praising the administration’s commitment to implementing programs that uplift citizens.
He assured residents that Tarauni Local Government would continue to roll out community-focused initiatives that deliver direct impact.
Representing the Governor, the Special Adviser on Legislative Matters, Abdullahi Alfa, alongside former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Isiyaku Ali Danja, urged the beneficiaries to make prudent use of the support fund to achieve the program’s intended goals.
Also speaking, the CRC Chairman of Tarauni LGA, Ibrahim Musa, noted that the empowerment distribution fulfills one of the promises made by Governor Yusuf during the electioneering period. He added that the program is ongoing in phases and encouraged women who have not yet benefited to remain patient.
The event was attended by councilors and advisers to the Tarauni Local Government Chairman from various sectors across the area.
