Musa Na Allah, Sokoto

Former Governor of Sokoto State and Senator representing Sokoto South, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, on Wednesday staged a thunderous return to Sokoto metropolis, receiving a hero’s welcome from an overwhelming crowd of supporters drawn from Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states.

The city transformed into a carnival of chants, songs, and waving banners as women’s groups, youth organizations, and party loyalists flooded the streets, celebrating what many described as the comeback of the North West’s strongest political contender ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Tambuwal, who also served as Director-General of the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organization in 2023, wasted no time in delivering a blistering attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing them of plunging Nigeria deeper into economic hardship, insecurity, and political stagnation.

“In 2023, we traversed this country, warning Nigerians not to vote for Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a man whose leadership would dump this nation into what I called Bola’s Garbage.

Today, the hunger, the hardship, and the hopelessness around you are undeniable proof that we were right,” Tambuwal declared to rapturous applause.

The former Speaker of the House of Representatives called on Nigerians across political, ethnic, and religious divides to unite in removing APC from power, vowing that the Tinubu administration had “nothing to offer but more pain and despair.”

“My message is clear: we must join forces to send APC and Tinubu packing in 2027. We will galvanize every corner of this country.

“We will not be intimidated. We will not be silenced. And we will not allow Nigerians to suffer in silence any longer,” he vowed.

Addressing recent media reports on his appearance before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Tambuwal dismissed the allegations as politically motivated.

“My visit to the EFCC was purely voluntary. I went there on my own volition, was questioned, and released on self-recognition as a Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR).

This ridiculous claim that I withdrew over N2 billion monthly from the Sokoto State account is a lie. How much is the state’s allocation from the Federal Government to begin with?” he queried.

He further accused the Sokoto State Government of staging a witch-hunt through what he called a “kangaroo commission of inquiry” that found nothing against him despite multiple sittings.

“They can set up as many fake panels as they like. They will find nothing. I am not shaken, I am not intimidated, and I will stand firm for the truth,” he said.

Supporters from Kebbi and Zamfara who travelled to Sokoto for the rally hailed Tambuwal as a “symbol of resistance” against what they described as the APC’s failed governance and oppressive politics.
