Sokoto Unveils Roadmap for Economic Growth, Transparency, Accountability

In its giant move to boost the state’s economic growth and enhance transparency and accountability, the Sokoto State Government through the State Ministry of Budget and Economics unveiled the roadmap to 2025 for economic growth and development.

The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr Abubakar Zayyana, while speaking to newsmen in the new development said upon his assumption of office, he developed a preliminary roadmap and solicited inputs from departmental heads on their planned actions in the next 12 months of the year 2025.

“I told the management of the ministry that I’m coming with a roadmap at a sketchy stage which needs their inputs for it to work effectively and to hold them accountable”, the Commissioner said.

Dr. Zayyana added that all the departments have complied and given the activities expected to be carried out in 2025, their purposes, timelines, and cost implications and risks that may likely hinder the success of the set target.

He said directors and their subordinates are expected to work assiduously for the success of the work plans of their respective departments, saying that a hundred percent result is expected from them.

The roadmap was officially unveiled by Dr. Abubakar Muhammad Zayyana, who explained that it would be integrated into the software to alert department heads of upcoming tasks and equally enable them to assess their performance and identify areas of improvement.

According to him, the software will send alerts to department directors via their email, ensuring they stay on track and avoid delays.

The roadmap is a plan to achieve certain objectives of the Ministry in the next twelve months and equally to support the achievement of all nine points’ agenda of Governor Ahmad Aliyu-led administration.

He emphasized that the ministry’s leadership is committed to supporting innovative ideas from staff members that contribute to the state’s economic development.

He announced plans to organize management fortnight meetings to assess progress, address challenges, and identify areas for improvement.

With the unveiling of the roadmap, the Sokoto State Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning is poised to drive economic growth and development in the state:

I’m his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Hajiya Maryam Ahmad Barade, has eulogized the innovations of the Commissioner, expressing optimism that with his vast knowledge, experience, and commitment the ministry would gradually move to greater heights.

He further harped on the need for all staff of the ministry to be more proactive in justifying their assigned duties for the development of the Ministry and state.
