Musa Na Allah, Sokoto
To drive economic growth and human capital development, the Sokoto State Executive Council has approved a range of multi-billion naira projects targeting the education, agriculture, and transportation sectors.
The sweeping initiatives, championed by Governor Ahmad Aliyu, aim to empower youth, uplift communities, and strengthen critical infrastructure across the state.
The approvals were announced during a State Executive Council briefing held Wednesday in Sokoto, where various ministries presented strategic development plans that received swift endorsement.
“These projects reflect the administration’s resolve to move from rhetoric to results,” said Hon. Sambo Danchadi, Commissioner for Information.
Among the approved projects is a ₦122.9 million contract awarded to M/S Banda Nass of BBC Nigeria Limited for furnishing a newly constructed library, two science laboratories, and six classrooms.
The initiative is intended to revitalize science education and enhance academic outcomes across the state.
Danchadi stressed that the contractor must complete the project within three months under strict accountability measures.
Furthering its commitment to education, the Council also approved two major initiatives presented by Professor Abubakar Ala, Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education. These include:
A ₦457.7 million contract for the renovation of the Sokoto Education Resource Centre—a vital facility for the production of textbooks, chalk, and educational materials.
The project includes a six-month completion timeline and a 30% mobilization fee upon submission of a valid bank guarantee.
A ₦69 million vocational empowerment program, in collaboration with UNICEF, for the training of 460 women and youth across all 23 local government areas.
The initiative includes the purchase of 230 sewing machines and 230 knitting machines, to be delivered by M/S Azura Nigeria Limited within two months.
In the agricultural sector, Commissioner Tukur Alkali revealed the award of a ₦1.87 billion contract to Malam Alu Agro-Allied Company for the procurement and subsidized distribution of Urea and NPK fertilizers.
The goal is to enhance crop yields and ensure food security during the current farming season.
An additional ₦96.9 million was approved for the supply of high-quality seeds and agrochemicals by Samadji Global Investment Limited, targeting improved productivity among smallholder farmers.
The Council also allocated ₦89.9 million for the supply of instructional materials at the dormant College of Agriculture in Wurno, part of efforts to revive the institution, attain full accreditation, and boost student enrollment.
In the transport sector, Hon. Bala Mohammed Kokani, Commissioner for Transport, announced a ₦261 million contract awarded to M/S HQ Solution Global Investment Nigeria Limited for landscaping and modern infrastructure upgrades at the Sokoto State Transport Establishment (SSTE) in Tasha Alu.
The project is expected to be completed within four months.
After the briefing, Commissioners reiterated the government’s commitment to transparency, timely execution, and measurable impact.
“These interventions are more than just projects,” said Danchadi. “They are strategic investments in our future, designed to build capacity, create jobs, and transform Sokoto State for generations to come.”
