Musa Na Allah, Sokoto

The Deputy Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Kabir Ibrahim Kware, has praised Governor Ahmed Aliyu for executing numerous development projects without resorting to loans from financial institutions.

He made the commendation on Tuesday during a Sallah homage to the Governor, where he emphasized the Governor’s fiscal responsibility.

“There has never been a time you approached us with a request for permission to borrow money from any financial institution, whether domestically or internationally.

“Your approach is particularly commendable given the wide array of people-oriented projects the Governor is implementing across the state.”

The Sokoto State Chief Judge, Justice Muhammad Sa’idu Sifawa, who also spoke on behalf of the state’s Judiciary, expressed gratitude to the Governor for constructing additional courtrooms at the State High Court.

He commended Governor Aliyu for his proactive engagement with issues affecting the Judiciary, which he described as a clear indication of a strong working relationship between the three branches of government in the state.

In his response, Governor Aliyu highlighted the importance of enhanced collaboration between the three tiers of government for the overall development of the state.

He reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling campaign promises and delivering the much-needed dividends of democracy to the people of Sokoto.

“I want to assure you that my doors are always open for you at any time to listen to the demands of your people,” the Governor said, urging lawmakers to bring forth the needs of their constituencies for swift and diligent implementation.

He also reminded the legislators of the importance of setting aside politics to work in harmony with the executive for the progress and equitable development of the people they represent.

Turning his attention to the Judiciary, Governor Aliyu urged judges and Khadis to ensure the speedy dispensation of justice, especially in addressing the issue of overcrowded correctional centres.

“It is worrisome to see how inmates are languishing in correctional centres for minor offences in the name of awaiting trial,” he remarked.

“Seven additional judges and seven Khadis had recently been appointed, marking a historic milestone in the state.

“The idea is to inject more manpower in our Judiciary to be able to expedite action in the dispensation of justice,” he added.

Governor Aliyu assured members of the Judiciary of his administration’s commitment to supporting their welfare at all times.
