To curb what it describes as a surge in immoral activities at wedding ceremonies, the Sharia Council of Rano Local Government has imposed a total ban on the use of DJs during such events.

The announcement was made by the Council Chairman, Malam Idris Garba, at a stakeholders’ meeting held on Thursday at the Rano Islamic Center.

The gathering drew traditional leaders, security agency representatives, Hisbah officials, and a delegate from the Rano Emirate Council.

Malam Garba decried the influence of DJs at weddings, accusing them of promoting conduct that runs counter to Islamic teachings.

He called on religious and traditional leaders, along with security personnel, to throw their weight behind the ban to help restore moral values within the society.

Speaking on behalf of the Emir of Rano, Ambassador Dr. Muhammad Isa Umar, the Waziri of Rano, Malam Kabiru Sani, backed the Council’s decision.

He referenced Qur’anic injunctions and expressed the Emirate’s full support in ensuring compliance.

The Chairman of Rano Local Government Council, Malam Naziru Yau, through his representative, Rt. Hon. Ahmed Jibrin, also condemned the rise in indecent practices during weddings, including the controversial “Kauyawa Day.”

He warned that anyone found promoting or participating in such events would be dealt with according to the law.

In their separate contributions, the Hisbah Commandant of Rano, Malam Musbahu Rurum, and the Director of Personnel Management, Ado Danazumi, urged community leaders to report violators promptly to enable swift enforcement.
