According to police reports on Thursday, a suicide bomber detonated an unidentified device inside a café near a police training facility in the capital city of Mogadishu, Somalia, resulting in at least seven fatalities and six injuries.
According to the authorities, the victims on Thursday were both officers and non-officers who were enjoying tea outside the General Kaahiye authorities Academy.
“There were people who found the suicide bomber suspicious due to the item he was carrying, questioning his intentions,” stated Deeqsan Ahmed, an eyewitness and attack victim. They expressed their concerns, and he blew himself up.
In a statement published on its associated website, al-Shabab, a group associated with al-Qaeda, claimed responsibility for the attack.
Two months had passed since a shooting on a Mogadishu public beach that left 37 people dead. That attack happened on Thursday.
