Seun Kuti: “Fela Spoilt Me While I Was Growing Up”

Isiyaku Ahmed

According to Afrobeats artist Seun Kuti, his late father, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, was a fantastic father to him.

Kuti revealed that he was spoilt as a youngster.

He said as much when he was a guest on the Zero Conditions program.

He remembered being treated better by his father than the rest of his siblings.

The musician claimed to be his father’s favorite, emphasizing that despite what his siblings may think, he was a wonderful parent to him.

The musician boasted that he had never done laundry in his life because he had been spoiled since he was a young child.

“I won the daddy lottery,” he declared. My all-time favorite person in the world is Fela Kuti. My brothers may argue that he was a bad father, but in my opinion, he was an incredible one.

You have no idea how pampered I was as a child. I have never done laundry before in my life. It’s beyond my knowledge to wash anything. I’m not boasting.

Also, he disclosed that at the age of eight, he joined Egypt 80, the band led by his late father.

Since I was eight years old, I have been a member of Fela’s Egypt 80 band. Thus, my family urged me to carry on with the band and keep all of the money I made since Fela passed away,” he remarked.
