News Desk

The Katsina State Police Command in partnership with the military, Department of State Services (DSS), Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), and local vigilantes have killed five suspected bandits and arrested three suspected informants during coordinated security operations.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, in a press statement disclosed that the operations took place on April 10, 2025 in Dandume and Danmusa local government areas of the state.

Acting on credible intelligence, DSP Aliyu said the Divisional Police Officer of Dandume led a joint team at about 4:15 a.m. to Dutsen Wori Village, a route frequently used by bandits.

He said the team successfully ambushed the suspects, resulting in the neutralisation of five armed bandits and the recovery of seven operational motorcycles, four Honda cars and three Boxer models believed to have been used in criminal activities.

Later that same morning at around 7 a.m., another operation was launched in Unguwar Adam and Unguwar Judo villages of Danmusa LGA, following intelligence from the DSS.

The DPO of Danmusa, supported by KSCWC personnel and local vigilantes, led a raid on a suspected bandits’ hideout where a gun duel ensued leading to the dislodgment of the criminals.

Three suspected informants believed to have been providing logistical and intelligence support to the bandits were arrested. Two motorcycles and two bicycles were also recovered from the scene.

He added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend fleeing suspects from both operations.

Commending the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Bello Shehu, praised their professionalism and synergy.

“These operations demonstrate the commitment of the command, in collaboration with sister security agencies, to maintaining peace and security in the state,” he stated.

The Commissioner reaffirmed the command’s determination to confront banditry and ensure the safety of all citizens.

He also urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, assuring them of swift response and continued efforts to restore normalcy in affected communities.
