The recent allegations of suspected civil society organizations engaging in illicit activities, including LGBT practices in Kano and serious concerns about the sources of funding for the terrorist group Boko Haram, have raised grave concerns about the integrity of some international donors and the potential threat to state and national security.
The introduction of measures to profile International Donor Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) by the Kano State Government is a timely and necessary development. We hope other states will follow suit.
We strongly commend the proactive efforts of the Kano State Government, particularly Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, Security Agencies in Kano, the Hon. Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, the Secretary to the State Government, Hon. Umar Faruq, and all High-Powered Committee Members of KNSG on Profiling of NGOs and Donor Organizations, for taking these bold steps.
This will give a clear picture of who is on board, what they have been doing before, and what they are formed to do.
We recognize the importance of ensuring that our organizations operate with transparency, accountability, and integrity. We appreciate the government’s commitment to safeguarding the interests of the Nigerian people.
We urge all well-meaning individuals and organizations to join the Kano state government in this effort to rescue civil society in Kano and Nigeria from those who seek to destroy it.
We must promote a culture of transparency, accountability, and good governance in the civil society sector. We will never tolerate any foreign funds attached with conditions against the rules of our state and nation.
It’s high time CSOs and NGOs in Nigeria diversified their funding sources, without relying on international funding. This will ensure their sustainability and integrity.
Again, we appreciate the government’s efforts to protect our nation from external influences that may serve as a threat to compromise the state and national security and values.

The Hon. Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs in Kano, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, deserves commendation for his prompt response to the needs of Kano citizens. The Kano state government’s approach and openness to advice on urgent matters are also worthy of praise.
Additionally, Comrade Salisu Gambo Detol has done a great job in drawing the attention of the Kano state government on radio to pressing issues, particularly concerning NGOs in Kano. The need for a regulatory board to oversee civil society organizations is increasingly important, given the serious allegations circulating on social media about international donor funding terrorist Group like Boko Haram and those Civi Society suspecting on working to promote LGBT practices in kano as captured in Radio program of Comrade Salisu Gambo Detol, which go against the ethics, culture, and religion of the people of Kano state.
It’s reassuring to see the Kano state government taking proactive steps to address these concerns, and the introduction of regulatory measures to profile international donor organizations and NGOs is a welcome development. This move will help ensure, more security, safety and adherence to the rule of law in Kano state.
Here’s a brief statement:
As a passionate advocate for social justice and human rights, I believe that empowering youth NGOs with AI and digital skills is crucial for amplifying their impact and promoting good governance. This program will benefit my organization, Girls Gate Initiative, in several ways:
1. Enhanced digital literacy: Our team will acquire essential skills to leverage AI tools, social media, and other digital platforms to amplify our message, engage with our community, and mobilize support for our causes.
2. Improved civic engagement: By harnessing the power of AI and digital technologies, we will be able to more effectively mobilize young people to participate in civic activities, advocate for their rights, and hold leaders accountable.
3. Increased efficiency and effectiveness: AI tools will enable us to streamline our operations, analyze data, and make informed decisions, ultimately leading to greater impact and sustainability.
By empowering youth NGOs like ours with AI and digital skills, this program will have a ripple effect, benefiting the broader community we serve. We will be able to:
– Provide more effective support services to vulnerable populations
– Amplify marginalized voices and promote social justice
– Foster a culture of transparency, accountability, and good governance
We are excited about the prospects of this program and look forward to leveraging AI and digital skills to drive positive change in our community.
