The Managing Director, Kano Road and Traffic Agency and Chairman of the Committee of Removal of Illegal Structures, Hon. Baffa Babba Dan Agundi has stated that the removal of Illegal structures in Kantin Ƙwari Market has started in Ernest.

KAROTA Spokesperson, Nabilusi Abubakar Kofar Na’isa on Monday in a statement said the exercise was necessary following the flooding at Kantin Kwari market where properties worth billions were destroyed.

Chairman Committee of Removal of Illegal Structures, Hon. Dan Agundi said he was making these remarks in respect of those calling on him that their structures are new, saying as long any structure is on waterways and drainage must be removed without hesitation.

Dr. Baffa said the work of the committee has the blessing of the Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, OFR.

According to the statement, the removal of Illegal structures exercise is ongoing despite calls by the high-flying individuals in the market to allow some to remove theirs themselves, he agreed to the request that they should do so as soon as possible because the way grader demolished may cause unwanted damages.

It said that Dan Agundi vowed that if one was found to be doing it himself has no problem with the Committee but it can’t wait for any excuses.

The Chairman of the Committee, Hon.   Baffa disclosed that any structure marked by KNUPDA must be removed, be it new or old.

All marked structures are constructed in contravention of existing laws and are either on drainage, or waterways in which fire servicing and refuse collection vehicles hardly got access to the market to render services.

The Committee Chairman pledged that drainage construction and evacuation will soon come into effect to avert the further occurrence of such wanton flooding.

Ɗan’agundi appealed to the affected persons that the decision of governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to embark on this exercise is in the interest of the state and its trading and economic prosperity.
