PSC Promotes 13 Commissioners to AIG, Elevates 17 DCPs to CP Rank

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 13 Commissioners of Police (CPs) to the rank of Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 17 Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) to CPs.

Torty Kalu, the head of protocol and public affairs of the commission, said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.

He said the senior officers were promoted following their successful performance in the recently concluded written examinations and oral interviews conducted by the PSC.

Kalu said the list of the successful officers had been formally conveyed to the Inspector-General of Police (IG) for immediate implementation.

He promoted the newly promoted CPs to the rank of AIG, including Emmanuel Christopher, Joseph Eribo, Dantawaye Miller, Uche Ifeanyi, Olarenwaju Ogunlowo, Muhammad Dahiru, and Dankombo Morris.

Others are Bello Shehu, Ibrahim Maikaba, Ahmed Musa, Olohundare Jimoh, Simeon Akpanudom, and Haruna Olufemi.

He also listed the newly promoted DCPs to CPs, including Abdulrahim Shaibu, Abbas Sule, Ojugbele Adebola, Preye Egbetokun, Kayode Magaji, Adebisi Lateef, Markus Basiran, and Silas Aremu.

Others are Sylvester Uzoefuna, Magaji Ismaila, Theodore Obasi, Sarah Ehindero, Hayatu Hassan, Mohammed Babakura, Danjuma Yahaya, and Rebecca Okereke.

He further said that 19 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) were also elevated to the rank of DCPs, while 35 Chief Superintendents of Police (CSPs) were promoted to ACPs.

“Argungu has urged the officers to redouble their efforts and justify their new ranks through unwavering commitment to effective policing and national security.

“The promotion is not an end but an opportunity to contribute more to the noble task of safeguarding lives and property.

“PSC will remain committed to transparency, merit, and adherence to global best practices in all promotion processes,” he said.
