Professor Jibril Aminu Dies @ 85

Former Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources, Professor Jibril Muhammad Aminu, is Dead.

He died in the early hours of 5 Thursday, June 2025, in Abuja.

Prof. Aminu was born in August 1939, at Song, Adamawa State.

He was also a Senator, representing Adamawa Central from 2003 to 2007.

A statement informing the Muslim Ummah of his death said Salatul Janazah (Funeral Prayer) will be held for him at the National Mosque, Abuja, today after Zuhr Prayer.

Professor Jibril Aminu’s burial/interment will later be held at Song, Adamawa State.

He is survived by two wives, Fatima Bukar Mulima, and nine children.

Professor Aminu, who was previously known as Aminu Song, was a professor of cardiology and was among the first set of medical students who graduated from the prestigious University of Ibadan.

He was also Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States from 1999 to 2003 and served as the senator representing Adamawa Central senatorial district from 2003 to 2011 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
