President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced a shake-up in the leadership of Nigeria’s Armed Forces, appointing new Service Chiefs in a move aimed at strengthening the country’s security framework.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Friday by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication.
According to the statement, General Olufemi Oluyede has been appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa. The President also named Major-General W. Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff, Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke as Chief of Air Staff, and Rear Admiral I. Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff.
Meanwhile, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye will continue in his role as Chief of Defence Intelligence.
President Tinubu expressed profound appreciation to the outgoing Service Chiefs for their patriotic service and leadership, commending their contributions to national security and stability.
He urged the newly appointed military chiefs to demonstrate professionalism, vigilance, and unity in the discharge of their duties, assuring them of his full support as they take on their new responsibilities.
“All appointments take immediate effect,” the statement concluded.
