The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has said the 60,000 barrels per day, bpd, old Port Harcourt Refinery remains fully operational.
It could be recalled that the refinery resumed operations in November 2024 after some years of rehabilitation, thus boosting domestic supply.
Some media reports have it that the operations of the refinery have stopped, leaving tanker drivers stranded.
Reacting to the reports, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC, Olufemi Soneye, in a statement said the refinery is fully operational.
The statement read;
“The attention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Limited has been drawn to reports in a section of the media alleging that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago has been shut down.
“We wish to clarify that such reports are false as the refinery is fully operational as verified a few days ago by former Group Managing Directors of NNPC.
“Preparation for the day’s loading operation is currently ongoing.”
