Jigawa State Police Command has announced comprehensive security arrangements to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free celebration of the 2026 Eid-el-Fitr across the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, said the Command has finalized plans to safeguard lives and property before, during, and after the festivities.
According to the statement, adequate personnel and operational assets will be strategically deployed to critical locations statewide, including Eid prayer grounds, recreational centres, parks, markets, and other public spaces.
The Command disclosed that ahead of the Sallah celebrations, it has intensified confidence-building patrols, intelligence gathering, and surveillance operations across all 27 Local Government Areas.
Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers have also been directed to enhance visibility policing and engage community stakeholders to prevent crime proactively.
During the festivities, a strong security presence will be maintained at designated prayer grounds and social venues.
Tactical units, including the Mobile Police Force and Rapid Response Team, will support conventional policing, while traffic control measures will be enforced to ensure smooth movement and prevent congestion.
The statement added that patrol teams would be stationed at strategic points to respond swiftly to emergencies.
Post-celebration measures will include sustained patrols and surveillance to deter criminal activities, with officers placed on high alert to guarantee the safety of residents returning to their destinations.
Monitoring of identified black spots and flashpoints will also continue to maintain law and order.
The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to providing a secure environment for residents and visitors, urging the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by sharing timely information.
Parents and guardians were advised to caution their children against reckless behaviour, while motorists were warned to strictly adhere to traffic regulations to prevent accidents.
The Command expressed appreciation to residents for their continued support and wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
