Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old suspected quack doctor for allegedly running an illegal clinic in Ore, within the Ore/Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Sunday, noting that it followed intensified efforts to dismantle medical-related criminal activities across Ondo State.

According to Jimoh, the suspect, identified as Idris Nasiru, was apprehended during an intelligence-led operation carried out by the command’s Surveillance Team.

A search of the suspect’s shop led to the recovery of injection needles, medical drips, bandages, and other assorted medical items.

He added that a further search of Nasiru’s residence, conducted with a duly signed search warrant, resulted in the recovery of used injection bottles, needles, and syringes.

Preliminary investigations, Jimoh said, revealed that the suspect was not a registered medical practitioner, confirming that the clinic was operating illegally.

He disclosed that the suspect had made useful statements while in custody and would be charged in court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The police spokesperson in the state stated that the Commissioner of Police urged residents to provide credible information to support the fight against crime and criminality.

He also advised members of the public to exercise caution when seeking medical services to avoid falling victim to quack practitioners.

Jimoh assured residents that the Ondo State Police Command remained committed to eradicating medical crimes in all their forms.
