Police Arraign Man For Allegedly Belonging to Secret Society

The police on Thursday arraigned a 37-year-old man, Ifaseyi Adesina, in Ibadan for allegedly belonging to a secret society.

Adesina, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of  conspiracy, membership of unlawful society and possession of a live cartridge.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Samuel Owolabi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences  in 2022, at Amuloko, Ibadan.

Owolabi said that the police  caught the defendant  with  one live cartridge, which he could not account for.

He added that the defendant  belonged to a secret society known as ‘Alora’ confraternity.

Owolabi said said that the offences contravened  Sections 516, 64(a) and 430 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Miss Gladys Oladele, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Oladele adjourned the case until April 9 for mention.
