Media aides to the Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, marked the 2025 Plateau Social Media Day with a series of activities celebrating the Governor’s two-year anniversary in office.
This year’s celebration, themed “Governor Caleb Mutfwang’s Two Years in Office: Connecting the People of Plateau State to Good Governance,” kicked off on Friday with a novelty football match between Team Plateau State Executive and Team Plateau State ALGON.
The match symbolized unity and collaboration within the Mutfwang-led administration.
The celebration continued on Saturday, June 28, with a city-wide environmental sanitation exercise. The media aides, alongside Mr. Samuel Dapiya, Director General of the Plateau Environmental Protection and Sanitation Agency (PEPSA), and a group of women supporters, cleared refuse and drainages around the Jos North Council Secretariat.
The Executive Chairman of Jos North LGC, Barrister J.K. Chris, was present to welcome and encourage the team.
Commending the effort, DG PEPSA, Mr. Dapiya, described the media aides’ participation as a commendable display of patriotism and leadership.
“This is the highest form of patriotism, media aides of the Governor identifying the need to evacuate waste in the city center.
“It’s a show of leadership worth emulating,” he said, urging youth across the 17 LGAs to take similar steps regardless of political affiliation.
Barrister J.K. Chris also praised the initiative, describing it as “a great awakening among young people in Plateau State” and emphasized its alignment with the state’s efforts to prevent flooding by keeping waterways and drainages clear.
The Director General of the Plateau State Information and Communication Technology Development Agency (PICTDA), Engr. Dominic Datong Gwaman, lauded the media aides for using social media to highlight the Governor’s achievements. He called on other youths to promote truth and positive narratives about the state.
“Social media should be a platform for truth. Today’s event is a model, showcasing the good happening under Governor Mutfwang’s leadership,” he said.
The celebration culminated in a tour of key projects initiated or completed under Governor Mutfwang’s administration.
These include the Tudun Wada–Kabong Road, Kabong–Mining Junction Road, Jenta Road Network rehabilitation, Plateau Hotel refurbishment, Uton Kong Bridge and Abattoir Overhead Bridge, the new JMDB Bukuru Market, and the recently acquired Metro Buses.
Conveyed in one of the iconic Metro Buses, the media aides used the tour to connect governance with the people, highlighting the administration’s developmental strides across the state.
