The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has closed the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for its 2027 presidential ticket, with indications that only former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, purchased the forms.
The party, however, extended by one week the deadline for the collection of Expression of Interest Forms for other elective positions, including governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State Houses of Assembly seats.
In a statement issued by the NDC National Secretary, Mr. Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the party said the earlier deadline of 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, 17 May 2026, had been extended to 12 midnight on Sunday, 24 May 2026.
The extension, according to the statement, applies only to aspirants contesting for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, Senate, and governorship tickets, while the sale of presidential forms has officially closed.
As of the close of sales on Monday, Obi remained the sole aspirant to obtain the presidential forms.
The party’s timetable showed that screening of aspirants who purchased and completed the forms would begin on Tuesday, 19 May, and end on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.
The NDC also disclosed that the collection and submission of Nomination Forms for screened and cleared aspirants would commence on 20 May and end on 26 May 2026.
The party warned that no further extension would be granted beyond the new deadline and urged aspirants to adhere strictly to the guidelines and timetable.
It also directed all aspirants to appear for screening and pre-qualification interviews at designated venues nationwide with all relevant documents.
