The Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Francis Adenigba Fadahunsi, has dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
This came at a time when party leaders and governor’s aides are declaring their support to follow Governor Ademola Adeleke to wherever he is going, as rumours of his defection spreads.
Similarly, the Senator representing Osun Central, Olubiyi Oluwole Fadeyi, has also tendered his resignation letter to the PDP.
In his letter tagged: ‘Resignation of my membership from the PDP’, dated July 12 2025, and addressed to the ward 4 party chairman in Obokun Local Government, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent on Saturday, Fadahunsi noted that he decided to leave after due consultation.
The letter reads: “I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect, due to the irreparable, irreconcilable differences and protracted legal battles that have bedevilled the party at the national level after the 2023 general elections.
“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends.
“It is my wish that you accept my resignation in good faith. Thank you for your understanding,” Fadahunsi said.
Also, the letter addressed to the PDP chairman in ward 3, Oke Ejigbo, Ila-Orangun, by Senator Fadeyi, reads: I wish to formally notify you that I am resigning my membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect.
“Irreconcilable differences and irreparable division that have emerged and court cases and counter court cases in the last three years which has created faction in the party at the national level.
“This was concluded after consultation and engagement with my political associates, family and friends,” Fadeyi said.
The Senator representing Osun West, Lere Oyewumi, might have refused to follow his colleagues due to the position he is holding as one of the principal officers of the National Assembly.
A source close to Senator Oyewumi said he is not considering leaving the party, being the current Deputy Minority Leader for the Senate.
