The Taraba State chapters of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have announced plans to commence an indefinite strike from 12 a.m. on Monday, August 11, 2025.
The decision followed a Joint State Executive Council meeting of both unions held on Sunday in Jalingo, the state capital.
In a statement signed by NLC Secretary Adamu Buba and TUC Secretary Polina Gani, the unions urged all affiliates and members to fully participate in the industrial action in solidarity against the Taraba State Government.
The statement said the meeting reviewed an earlier ultimatum issued to the government concerning “activities of the biometric data capture committee and its outcome.”
“Strike is hereby declared to commence at 12 midnight, Monday, 11th August, 2025. All units and branches of affiliates in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) are directed to mobilise and form strike implementation committees to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in their respective MDAs,” the unions stated.
Workers have been instructed to stay away from their offices and withdraw their services until further notice.
