Okpebholo Awards Contract for Construction of Dual Carriageway in Edo Central

Edo State Government said it has awarded a contract for the construction of a dual carriageway that would connect Uromi in Esan North-East to Ubiaja in Esan South-East local government areas of the state.

The two Local Governments are in the Edo Central Senatorial district, where the governor of the State, Monday Okpebholo, hails from.

Governor Monday Okpebholo disclosed this during a service at the St. Anthony Catholic Cathedral in Uromi in celebration of Easter celebration.

He said the construction of the dual carriageway was designed to facilitate better transportation links and support economic growth in the region.

He revealed that his administration had awarded several road contracts aimed at enhancing infrastructure development within the State.

While expressing his administration’s commitment to fulfilling electioneering promises through the initiation of more developmental projects, he assured the people of Edo State that significant developments are on the way across all spheres of life in the State.

Okpebholo, who, however, emphasized the importance of community cooperation in driving development, promised that his administration would work diligently to improve the lives of the people.

According to him, among the notable projects is the construction of a dual carriageway that will connect Uromi to Ubiaja, a move designed to facilitate better transportation links and support economic growth in the region.

“Work has already commenced on the Ubiaja side, with plans for additional lanes reflecting our commitment to leaving a lasting legacy in the Esan region.

“Plans are underway for the construction of alternative routes to reduce congestion, including a new road from Uromi to Iworah, via Unewa and Uwesan, where ongoing developments are already being observed.

“My administration aims to reinforce the focus on infrastructural development and improve the overall quality of life for residents,” he said.

Okpebholo, who was accompanied to the service by key members of his administration expressed gratitude to God for his electoral successes and the favorable ruling from the election petition tribunal.

He recounted his past visits to the Cathedral, when he sought prayers during his senatorial and gubernatorial campaigns elections, and added that he has ultimately returned to the Church l to thank God and the congregation for their support.

In appreciation of the prayers, the Governor made a donation to support the continued development of the Cathedral, underscoring his connection to the Church Community and commitment to local initiatives.

In his remarks, the Bishop of Uromi Diocese, Right Reverend Ogun Donatus Osa, thanked the Governor for his move to ensure peace in Uromi and the State at large, following his actions after the killing in Uromi.

Osa noted that this was the first time a sitting Governor would be coming to the Church to thank God on his own.

He, however, urged the people of Uromi and the State at large to collaborate and cooperate with the Governor to develop the State and make life better for the people.
