Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has inaugurated a capacity-building workshop aimed at strengthening World Bank Project Implementation Units (PIUs) in the state.
The event, held earlier on Monday at Government House, Lokoja, underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing project delivery and development outcomes.
In a statement by Mr. Unubi Emmanuel, Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Odod represented by his Deputy, Comrade Joel Salifu, emphasized that the state-led initiative is designed to improve the performance of PIUs across various ministries.
Governor Ododo noted that the workshop will equip PIUs with modern digital tools to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficient monitoring of World Bank-assisted projects.
“This initiative, which began last month with a comprehensive assessment of our PIUs, is being facilitated by Trendtech and will span the next four months.
“It is fully supported by our administration to ensure the successful delivery of critical projects that will drive Kogi State’s development,” he stated.
The training program includes the introduction of digital performance monitoring dashboards for real-time project tracking and evaluation.
Governor Ododo urged participants to utilize the skills acquired to overcome operational challenges and achieve timely project execution, stressing that every project must contribute meaningfully to the state’s prosperity.
He also commended the State Accountant General, who serves as the State Portfolio Focal Person, and Trendtech for their dedication and partnership in driving the initiative forward.
