The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has officially taken possession of a newly completed administrative block with a perimeter fence, earmarked as a Training College for the Corps.
A statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, said the project was facilitated by the Deputy Senate President, Distinguished Senator Barau I. Jibril (Maliya), in collaboration with the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority.
At a brief ceremony in Gwarzo town, Gwarzo Local Government Area, representatives of the Deputy Senate President and the River Basin Development Authority, Hon. Yusuf Tabuka and Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, formally handed over the facility to the Corps for immediate use.
According to the statement, the training centre, which will later be equipped with lecture halls and hostels, is designed to strengthen NSCDC’s capacity in internal security, disaster management, and community protection.

Speaking at the event, Senator Barau, represented by Hon. Yusuf Tabuka, said the initiative was conceived to bolster the nation’s security framework by providing a modern learning environment for officers and men of the NSCDC.
He commended the River Basin Development Authority for its partnership in making the project a reality.
In his remarks, Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso, who represented the Managing Director of the River Basin Authority, praised Senator Barau’s foresight and urged the Corps to make the best use of the facility.
On behalf of the Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, the State Commandant of NSCDC, Comdt. Shafi’u Abdulmumini expressed gratitude to the Deputy Senate President, describing the project as a landmark contribution to national security development.
He assured that the Corps would deploy the facility effectively to train personnel in tackling emerging security challenges nationwide.
The event was attended by top officials of the River Basin Authority, community leaders, and representatives of security agencies, who commended the collaboration and pledged continued support for the sustainability of the project.
The handover marks a significant milestone in NSCDC’s drive for professional training and manpower development, reinforcing its role in protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring public safety.
