The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, under the leadership of Commandant Bala Bawa Bodinga, joined the global community to commemorate the 2025 International Peace Day with a series of activities.

The celebration, themed “Act Now for a Peaceful World,” featured lectures and a road walk led by Commandant Bodinga alongside officers and men of the command.

Declaring the lecture session open on Monday, Commandant Bodinga reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and infrastructure, protecting lives and property, and strengthening internal security.

“The NSCDC in Kano State under my watch will continue to demonstrate professionalism, patriotism, and commitment to building a safer society,” he assured.

He stressed that achieving peace is not the sole responsibility of security agencies but requires the active involvement of every citizen.

He therefore urged Kano residents to embrace dialogue, reject violence, resist crime, and uphold values that promote unity.

According to him, forces that threaten peaceful coexistence can only be defeated through collective effort.

Two papers were presented during the event. The first, delivered by Comrade Dr. Garba Suleiman Marafa, National President of the Wazobia Conflict Resolution and Peace Advocacy Initiative, focused on peaceful coexistence among citizens.

The second, presented by SC Mubarak M. Bello from the NSCDC’s Peace and Conflict Resolution Unit, addressed the dangers of conflict escalation.

The commemoration drew a large audience, including NSCDC management staff, area commanders, divisional officers, civil society organizations, community leaders, and traditional rulers.
