The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested three suspects over the vandalisation and theft of railway clips and nuts along the rail corridor in Offa Local Government Area.

The arrests began when an 18-year-old, Mosahudu Salisu, was intercepted on 28 November 2025 by an official of the Nigeria Railway Corporation at the Adeleke area of Offa.

Salisu was reportedly caught attempting to transport the stolen railway materials on a motorcycle before being handed over to the NSCDC.

A follow-up investigation by operatives of the Offa Division led to the arrest of two additional suspects: 19-year-old Hassan Abu, identified as the principal vandal, and 35-year-old Abubakar Mohammed, alleged to be the intermediary facilitating the illegal trade.

Parading the suspects on Tuesday, the Kwara State Commandant of the NSCDC, Dr Umar J. G. Mohammed, condemned the vandalisation of railway infrastructure, describing it as a serious threat to public safety and economic development.

“The Corps will not relent in safeguarding critical national assets across the state,” he said, adding that the suspects will face prosecution once investigations are completed.

Dr Mohammed also urged residents to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information to help combat crime in their communities.
