To promote behavioural change and improve gender-sensitive policing, the Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has launched a specialized training for Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) in collaboration with CLEEN Foundation.
The three-day capacity-building workshop, focused on Social and Behavioural Change Communication (SBCC) and strategies for preventing Gender-Based Violence (GBV), commenced in Kaduna on Tuesday, for PPROs from commands across Northern Nigeria.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Acting Executive Director of CLEEN Foundation, Mr. Peter Maduoma, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to public safety, justice reform, and inclusive policing.
He underscored the importance of supporting security agencies through research-based training that enhances professionalism, human rights protection, and accountability.
Representing the IGP at the event, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, joined virtually and charged the officers to take the training seriously, stressing its relevance in boosting public trust, improving communication strategies, and addressing the rising cases of gender-based violence nationwide.
He applauded CLEEN Foundation for the timely and impactful initiative.
The workshop includes expert-led sessions on SBCC techniques, gender-sensitive engagement, community policing strategies, and targeted communication approaches designed to foster safer, more inclusive communities.
