The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has expelled House of Representatives member, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, citing anti-party activities and failure to meet his financial obligations to the party.

The State Chairman of NNPP, Hashim Sulaiman Dungurawa, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Kano on Saturday.

He said the decision followed Jibrin’s repeated public attacks on the party and its leadership.

Dungurawa described Jibrin as a “weak politician” whose political relevance was only made possible by the Kwankwasiyya movement and the NNPP platform.

“If he were truly strong politically, he would have won his election under the APC, but he failed. It was only when he joined NNPP through Kwankwasiyya that he became a House of Reps member. Now he is deceiving himself, thinking he is strong,” Dungurawa said.

He explained that the party had initially set up a reconciliation committee after Jibrin’s interview on Channels Television, but his subsequent media outings further confirmed his disloyalty.

“Instead of dialogue, he went further to work against our interests, openly declaring loyalty outside the party. That is why we expelled him. He has no value to add,” the chairman added.

Dungurawa also accused Jibrin of defaulting in the payment of mandatory party dues, warning that the NNPP would take legal action to recover the funds.

“We will drag him to court to recover what he owes the party. It is a constitutional requirement for every member to pay dues, but he has consistently failed to do so,” he said.

On speculations that Jibrin might return to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the NNPP chairman maintained that such a move would not weaken the party, stressing that “politics is about groups and coalitions” and that the Kwankwasiyya movement remains firmly behind its leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.
