The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecast widespread thunderstorms and rainfall across various parts of the country from Monday through Wednesday.

In its weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja, NiMet predicted early morning thunderstorms, with or without rainfall, over parts of Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Taraba, Adamawa, and Kaduna States in the northern region.

The rest of the North is expected to experience sunny intervals with patches of clouds.

By afternoon and evening hours, thunderstorms with rainfall are likely in Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Jigawa, Yobe, Kano, Katsina, Gombe, Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, and Kaduna.

In the North-Central region, morning thunderstorms are expected over parts of Niger, Plateau, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), while other areas will experience partly cloudy skies.

Later in the day, isolated thunderstorms are forecast over Plateau, the FCT, Benue, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Niger.

In the South, cloudy conditions will prevail in the morning, with light rainfall anticipated in parts of Ogun, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.

Thunderstorms accompanied by light rains are expected later in the day across Ogun, Lagos, Ondo, Oyo, Imo, Ebonyi, Enugu, Anambra, Abia, Edo, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom States.

Tuesday’s Outlook

NiMet forecasts partly cloudy to sunny skies over most of the North, with chances of scattered thunderstorms and heavy rains in Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Yobe, Sokoto, Jigawa, Bauchi, and Kaduna in the morning.

In the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms with light rains are expected in Taraba, Adamawa, Gombe, Borno, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, and Bauchi.

The North-Central region will see morning thunderstorms with light rains in the FCT, Niger, Kogi, and Benue. Later in the day, similar weather is expected in Nasarawa, FCT, Benue, Kogi, and Plateau.

In the South, morning rains are likely in Akwa Ibom and Cross River. Thunderstorms with light rain are forecast across the southern region in the afternoon and evening.

Wednesday’s Outlook

NiMet predicts morning thunderstorms in Zamfara, Kebbi, Borno, Yobe, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Jigawa, Gombe, Bauchi, and Sokoto States.

In the afternoon and evening, thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are expected in Borno, Yobe, Bauchi, Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Taraba, and Adamawa.

In the North-Central, cloudy skies are forecast in the morning, followed by thunderstorms with moderate rainfall across the region later in the day.

The South will likely experience light rainfall throughout the day.
