The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has expressed grave concern over Saturday night’s terrorist attacks on three communities, Tunga-Makeri, Konkoso, and Pissa, in Niger State, which resulted in multiple deaths and the abduction of innocent residents.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Kwara State, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Forum commiserated with the government and people of Niger State over the tragic incident, describing it as deeply disturbing.
The NGF also extended its condolences to the government and people of Kwara State following a recent terrorist attack in Woro community, Kaiama Local Government Area, where dozens of residents were reportedly killed for rejecting a doctrine said to be inconsistent with Islam.
“We send our sincerest condolences to all the families who lost dear ones in these unfortunate terrorist attacks, acknowledge and identify with the trauma and pains of the survivors, and pray for the safe return of those still missing,” the statement read.
The Forum commended security forces for what it described as their gallantry, achievements, and sacrifices in various theatres of operation.
However, it urged them to intensify efforts and deploy the full weight of state authority against terrorists and their collaborators.
“We strongly believe in the capacity of our security forces to win this war against terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping,” the statement added.
