NEMA Donates 155,020 Litres of Liquid Fertilizer to Jigawa Flood Victims

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has handed over 155,020 liters of liquid gel fertilizer to the Jigawa state government for onward distribution to farmers affected by flood disasters in the state.

Speaking while handing over the fertilizer to the state government, the Director-General (DG) of NEMA, Zaubaida Umar, said the commodity was part of the intervention given to flood victims which started in 2018 in the state.

The DG who was represented by the Director of Admin and Finance, Sani Jiba, said, the fertilizer was part of the intervention given to the farmers affected by the flood to support them for reviving and improving their livelihood.

“This liquid fertilizer is a balance of NPK fertilizer approved for the state under the National Food Security Council-Emergency Agricultural Intervention (NFSC-EAI) to farmers affected by the 2018 flood in the state.

“Each liter of the liquid fertilizer is equivalent to 50kg of NPK 20-10-10 fertilizer.

“It is my pleasure to hand over the 155,020 liters of liquid gel fertilizer to you for onward distribution to the targeted farmers,” the DG said

In his response, the Jigawa state governor Malam Umar Namadi thanked NEMA and the Federal Government for the fertilizer donation which will complement the effort of the state government to empower people through their businesses.

The governor represented by his deputy, Engr Aminu Usman, added that the items will be handed over to the State Emergency Management Agency for onward distribution to the registered beneficiaries in Auyo, Kafinhausa, and Miga local government areas of the state.
