Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, on Saturday, paid a humanitarian visit to families displaced by recent terrorist attacks in Mushere and Tangor communities of Bokkos Local Government Area.
He sympathized with the victims, offering heartfelt condolences to families who lost loved ones and praying for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Governor Mutfwang reassured the displaced residents of his administration’s firm commitment to their welfare, safety, and long-term resettlement.
“No household in distress will be ignored,” the Governor said, acknowledging the grief and trauma suffered by the communities.
He emphasized that a comprehensive needs assessment would be carried out immediately to enable the swift delivery of relief materials, with special attention to the most vulnerable women and children.
Speaking to hundreds of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Mushere, the Governor praised the community’s resilience in the face of relentless attacks over the past three weeks.
He commended the youth for their active collaboration with security agencies and reaffirmed the strategic importance of Mushere as a gateway to many other communities.
“We know the intent of these attackers is to take Mushere to access other parts of the state. But we will not let that happen.
“Mushere is a blessed land, it gave Plateau its first civilian governor in the Fourth Republic, Chief Joshua Dariye.
“We will stand with you and ensure Mushere stands strong,” he declared.
Governor Mutfwang also urged the youth to shun vices such as drug abuse and alcoholism, warning that such behaviors erode their strength and potential.
“Our youth are our greatest asset. We need your unity and focus now more than ever. If God is truly God, let us serve Him together in truth and unity,” he appealed.
The Governor condemned betrayal and sabotage by individuals allegedly aiding attackers, warning that anyone caught compromising community security for personal gain would be prosecuted.
At Tangor, Mutfwang extended similar solidarity, offering condolences to the Makai Tangor and bereaved families affected by the latest wave of violence.
“The news of the killings in Tangor was devastating. We mourn with you and pray for God’s comfort. You are not alone in this grief,” he said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to strengthen security across all flashpoints, deploy reinforcements, and invest in rural infrastructure to improve access for both security and emergency services.
“Tangor is close to my heart. I will never forget that during my first political outing, the delegates from this community supported me fully. I owe you my continued presence and commitment,” he stated.
Governor Mutfwang also conveyed the condolences and solidarity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, assuring the people that the Federal Government is collaborating with Plateau State to restore peace and order.
“We are working to strengthen security deployment, provide mobility such as motorcycles for difficult terrains, and rehabilitate rural roads to support both emergency response and community resilience,” he added.
In his remarks, the District Head of Horop, Miskaham Jonah Dawum, called for the establishment of permanent security outposts in vulnerable communities and advocated the creation of a joint Plateau-Nasarawa Taskforce to combat cross-border criminal activity.
