The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) has disbursed financial grants amounting to N12.5 million to 50 women-focused Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) operating across the state.

The initiative aims to support programmes that promote women’s empowerment, skills development, and social welfare.

The grant presentation ceremony took place at the WAPA Conference Room in Alausa, Ikeja, and was attended by representatives of beneficiary NGOs, ministry officials, and stakeholders committed to improving the lives of women and vulnerable groups

In her address, the Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Bolaji Cecilia Dada, said the Grant-in-Aid initiative underscores the commitment of the Lagos State Government to strengthening partnerships with credible organisations that align with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s vision of poverty reduction and inclusive empowerment.

“The Lagos State Government recognises the invaluable role NGOs play in complementing our efforts to improve the lives of women and families.

“Today’s grant is not just financial support; it is an investment in your dedication, compassion, and service to humanity,” she said.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Rianat Ajibike Onigbanjo, commended the NGOs for their dedication to community development and encouraged them to remain steadfast in executing impactful programs that uplift women and girls.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Folayemisi Adu, Executive Director of Hope Builders Skills Development and Acquisition Foundation, expressed gratitude to the state government for its continued support.

She assured that the funds would be used transparently to scale ongoing grassroots initiatives that promote skills acquisition and economic independence for women.
