Kwara State has made a remarkable mark on the national stage with groundbreaking achievements in both sports and education.
For the first time since the state’s creation in 1967, Kwara United Football Club has won the prestigious 2025 President’s Federation Cup.
Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who joined in celebrating the team’s victory over Abakaliki FC, described the moment as historic and deeply symbolic for the state.
“This is a joyful moment not just for the team but for all Kwarans,” the Governor said. “Our boys have made history, and I am overwhelmed with pride. It’s a testament to what discipline, determination, and unity can achieve.”
He extended heartfelt congratulations to the players, coaching crew, club management, the State Sports Commission, and supporters at home and abroad.
The Governor also acknowledged the role of the Kwara diaspora in boosting the team’s morale and progress.
In a further boost to the state’s reputation, Kwara also clinched the national Senior President School Debate Competition, marking the first time the state has taken the title.
Governor AbdulRazaq linked both triumphs to sustained government investment in youth development, sports, and education.
“Our students have now won the President School Debate Competition three times in a row.
These accomplishments are not coincidental; they are the fruits of intentional, strategic investments in sectors critical to the future of our young people,” he said.
He congratulated all Kwarans, both at home and abroad, expressing confidence that the state will continue to soar.
“These victories show that Kwara is on the rise. We’re creating a future where our youth can thrive — in sports, academics, and every area of excellence.”
