Kwara State Government recorded notable, far-reaching achievements in all State Tertiary institutions in the last quarter of 2024.
The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. Mrs Mary Arinde, made this known on Monday at the quarterly inter-ministerial press briefing held at the Kwara State Ministry of Finance Conference room.
She highlighted most of the landmark achievements for the last quarter of the year including the completion of the Osi and Ilesha Baruba satellite campuses of the Kwara State University (KWASU) respectively, in which Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has commissioned the Osi Campus. Academic activities have since commenced at the Osi campus with the Directorate of Environmental Sciences fully in operation.
“This administration has also procured two Hiace vehicles for the National Association of Kwara State Students and the National Association of Nigerian Students.”
The Governor has extended financial support to indigent students from Kwara State home and abroad.
He also approved the implementation of the new minimum wage across all tertiary institutions in Kwara State as well as the payment of arrears.
Furthermore, the government approved the empowerment of all fifty graduates of the International Vocational Technical and Entrepreneurship Centre (IVTEC) Ajase- Ipo.
The Commissioner also mentioned the establishment of the Kwara State University of Education (KWASUED).
Dr. Arinde listed various Government interventions to improve the educational sector such as the flag-off of drug test policy for all new intakes of tertiary institutions in the State, and the provision of free transportation to students of tertiary institutions, among others.
She thanked the Governor for giving priority to improving the quality and standard of tertiary institutions in Kwara State.
Dignitaries at the inter-ministerial press briefing were the State cabinet members and political appointees, and all the recognized media outlets in the State.
