The Kano State Ministry of Health (KSMoH) has successfully rehabilitated several of its operational vehicles that were previously classified as scraps, as part of deliberate efforts to strengthen health service delivery and improve operational efficiency across the state.

The rehabilitation exercise was approved by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, who authorized the Ministry to repair and restore the vehicles to full working condition.

This approval enables the Ministry to continue utilizing the vehicles for essential health-related assignments, monitoring, supervision, and emergency response activities.

Speaking on the development on Tuesday, the Hon. Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, explained that the initiative aligns with the vision of the present administration to promote prudent management of public assets and ensure that government resources are optimally utilized in delivering quality healthcare services to the people of Kano State.

Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf further disclosed that the rehabilitation of the vehicles will significantly enhance the Ministry’s capacity to reach health facilities across the state, particularly in hard-to-reach areas, thereby improving supervision, logistics, and timely delivery of healthcare interventions.

The Commissioner also conveyed the directive of Governor Yusuf to the drivers assigned to the vehicles, urging them to handle the vehicles with utmost care, adhere strictly to traffic regulations, and ensure regular maintenance to safeguard public assets and guarantee safety.

He recalled that the KSMoH had earlier organized training programs for its drivers on road safety rules and best driving practices, in line with existing traffic laws, with the aim of reducing road accidents and prolonging the lifespan of government vehicles.

Dr. Yusuf reassured the public that the Ministry remains fully committed to the proper maintenance of the rehabilitated vehicles and to upholding the trust placed in it by the Governor, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare service delivery and improve health outcomes across Kano State.
